Youth Programs
Our classes are taught in the mountain music tradition by the best players and teachers in Western North Carolina.
This music is about community, culture, and having a good time. We're committed to creating the next generation of mountain musicians, so most of our youth programs are offered completely free.
After School Classes
We offer an after school mountain strings class at every elementary school in the county. This class is for grades 3rd–5th, and it's completely free at BES, RES, PES, and TCH.
We also offer a number of classes for older kids, and invite more advanced students to consider our adult classes.
Junior Appalachian Musicians
Transylvania County Junior Appalachian Musician (JAM) Program offers free classes and weekly opportunities for students to play music together in an informal setting. Classes are offered for guitar, clawhammer banjo, fiddle, and mandolin. The teachers are working musicians with a passion to keep traditional music alive in the Appalachian Region.
Rosman Mountain Music
Rosman Mountain Music is our flagship program at Rosman Middle/High School. We help RMHS music teachers design and teach a mountain music integrated curriculum.
String Fest Summer Camps
We offer multiple weeks of free mountain music summer camp every year.
