Camp Schedule

Mountain School of Strings (formerly TYS) is excited to offer a one week summer camp session August 13–17, 2018! Students can choose from either a Beginner half-day session (for students in grades K–5) or an Intermediate to Advanced full-day session (for students in grades 6th–adult). Camp will take place at St Phillips Episcopal Church. Half-day sessions are $125 per week 9am–12pm and full-day sessions are $250 per week 9am–4pm.

Beginner Session Beginner students will have the opportunity to explore different genres of music, touch and play different types of instruments, learn introductory (Suzuki style) strings skills, and play fun engaging games! Instructors for this session will be Sarah Dearbaugh and Rick Hastings. Session is 9am–12pm and for grades K–5. Students will be split into smaller groups, grades K–2 and grades 3–5 will be paired together.

Intermediate—Advanced Session Students will have the opportunity to learn more about music theory, perform different styles of music, improvisation (how to jam!), composition, and perform in small ensembles during their fun and educational week of camp. Instructors for this session are Ryan Kijanka and Franklin Keel. Session is 9am–4pm and for grades 6–adult. Students will be split into smaller groups, grades 6–8 and 9–adult will be paired together.
