Mountain Music Throwdown 2025
The Mountain Music Throwdown is a traditional music competition held annually in Brevard, North Carolina. There are youth and adult divisions, both with cash prizes. Registration opens July 1st, 2025

Categories
Adult: 18 and older.
Youth: Ages 10-17.
Small Fry: Under 10 years old.

- Banjo
- Guitar
- Singing
Competitors will be judged on tone, timing, and artistry.
Rules:
Your tune or song must be within the Mountain Music Tradition: Old-Time, Bluegrass, or Gospel. (Small Fry division may play from any genre.)
You may be accompanied by one instrument.
Competitors in the singing competition may be soloists, duo, or groups. You may only have one accompanying instrument.
First place winners of the previous year’s youth category may enter the adult category of the same division.
Singers must keep their songs under 3 minutes. Shorter or abridged songs are appreciated.
If any division has less than 4 entrants, it may be cut. This decision will be made well in advance of the competition.

Adult Fiddle: $150/$100/$50
Adult Mandolin: $100/$50/$25
Adult Banjo: $100/$50/$25
Adult Guitar: $100/$50/$25
Adult Singing: $100/$50/$25
Youth Fiddle: $100/$50/$25
Youth Mandolin: $50/$25/$10
Youth Banjo: $50/$25/$10
Youth Guitar: $50/$25/$10
Youth Singing: $50/$25/$10
Small Fry: $25/$15/$10
