Norm Malenke is a professional cellist of many years who is a veteran chamber music player and coach. He organizes string chamber ensembles for players in western North Carolina and participates as a player in many chamber sessions each month.
Just this past month, a viola quintet of professional players organized by him performed two movements of a Mozart viola quintet at a gathering of mostly retired professional musicians.
He attends multiple summer chamber music workshops in the eastern and southern United States and strives to recruit new players to participate in chamber music. He has a special heart for young players and works tirelessly to encourage them to enjoy playing music with each other and to “always get better”.
