Building Connections through Music
Mountain School of Strings brings stringed music instruction to students of all ages in Transylvania County.
Mountain School of Strings has been serving Transylvania County in Western North Carolina since 2010, formally known as Transylvania Youth Strings. Our classes and lessons are located on the beautiful campus of the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, NC and we also offer guitar and violin classes in all of Transylvania County Elementary Schools and Rosman Middle and High School.
Our students range in age from 6 - 80 plus and our programs are offered for everyone regardless of the ability to pay. Our after school programs are currently grant funded and offered for free. We also have fun summer music camps, the Mountain Music Throwdown, Winter and Spring Concerts and other special events. Mountain School of Strings hosts Old Time Jam Sessions and the chamber music ensemble Mountain Laurel Strings. MtnSOS also collaborates with the Brevard chapter of Junior Appalachian Musicians.
If you already play or if you are a beginner join us for some fabulous classes and lessons in violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, mandolin, banjo, percussion, song writing, and ukulele. Our dedicated teaching staff will help you every step of the way and we build skills so you can play any style of music you can dream of!
